Motor Freight within North America
YRC (formerly Yellow Freight & Roadway), Con-Way Transportation
Services, R+L Carriers and FedEx Freight are motor truck companies that
currently offer excellent services and rates.
We quote shipping rates and provide local terminal phone numbers. Telephone numbers and website addresses
are listed below.
You are responsible for unloading your
shipment off motor trucks. A forklift, loader or lifting boom is needed to
unload most equipment offered in this catalog. Asking the driver to
return later or drive to another place to unload or come back with a
lift gate will result in additional charges. Being "closed" or
unavailable to receive delivery may result in additional charges. Lift
gates are a useful "added service" to unload for an additional charge of $75 to
$125, depending on the carrier.
When your order is shipped, we contact you with the tracking number and phone
number of your local motor truck terminal. You can contact them to let them know
you're available for delivery and share any additional assistance. Most
deliveries are routine and need little or no additional instructions but if you
need more service, keep it simple. Note that some additional services result in
additional charges.
One alternative is to pick up your
shipment at the local terminal. This can greatly simplify delivery schedules and
reduce unloading hassles if unloading equipment in insufficient. They do not
charge for lifting your shipment onto your truck at the terminal. Also, terminal
pick-ups may reduce freight costs in "remote" areas.
UPS within North America
They are responsible for unloading your
shipment off their trucks but may ask for assistance to handle heavier cartons.
They primarily handle cartons by hand.
There are size and weight parameters and packaging with conventional cardboard
cartons is emphasized. Items in no cartons, items that are "wrapped" or cartons
made of wood results in an additional charge.
Cardboard cartons are often poorly suited to ship
bulky or heavy farm attachments
or parts but can still work with additional packaging effort and materiel, which
may result in additional
packaging charge(s) by us. It is often easier and ultimately less in real
cost to use a motor truck as an alternative to ship bulky or
heavy items since motor truck packaging requirements are much less
particular and can be done in a single large container handled with
forklifts. As always, obtaining a freight quote (even on
a routine UPS shipment) is the best way to know your
freight costs in
advance.Contacting motor freight

Ocean & Air Freight
YRC (MIQ), DHL and FedEx offer
excellent air and ocean delivery services throughout the world. UPS also offers
air services for smaller shipments. Services may be door-to-port or door-to-door
and available services may vary between providers and destination countries.
These shipping companies also provide import documentation and we can provide
all necessary original documents. While not required, purchasing equipment
through an exporter in the United States or an importer in your country can be
useful.
Equipment set-up
Most equipment is “knocked down” to qualify for the lowest
shipping rates and meet the more-strict density initiatives of the last few
years. Manuals are provided, which include short and simple set-up steps
done in minimal time. Equipment can be shipped mostly set-up to
minimize set-up effort after delivery, but shipping charges would be
considerably more sine the item would ship at a larger size with the same
weight. Flatbed trucks are available to deliver larger set-up equipment.Smaller equipment or attachments shipped via UPS are
usually disassembled for compact packaging in a carton. Since such items are
often relatively small, set-up time is still short and instructions are
provided.
Feel free to ask our Sales Dept for delivery alternatives and
set-up details for particular models. Equipment picked up at the factory can
be fully set-up. Equipment picked-up at the factory can also be unassembled
for an additional discount since neither packaging or set-up time is needed.
