High beds
    This type of bed former is named the "Strawberry Special" since beds this size are often considered for strawberries and raspberries. Forming beds like this assumes a fairly easy-working soil with some depth.
    Smaller growers may prefer crops that are up higher for easier picking. Be sure bed height is appropriate for soil and using other machinery. If driving the tractor over the beds is needed later, be sure the tractor has clearance.
    Keep bed height in perspective. Conventional 5" or 6" beds provide effective moisture control and are best managed with typical farm equipment. Improving field drainage is generally better than trying to make beds higher. Simply following local raised-bed practices can be most productive in the short-term.
